BACK ‘PACKS’ TO SCHOOL PROJECT
In 2010, Quota International of Cedar Rapids realized there were kids in elementary schools in rural Linn County who did not start school with all the necessary school supplies, simply because their family did not have adequate funds to buy everything that was needed. And so, the Back ‘Packs’ to School Project was born!
In 2012, we provided 10 back-packs filled with school supplies to each of 8 elementary schools in rural Linn County. These included: Lisbon, Mt Vernon, Center Point-Urbana, Coggon (North Linn), Walker (North Linn), Springville, Central City and Alburnett. This covers 7 school districts! The back-packs each contained 3-4 one subject spiral notebooks, 3-4 two pocket folders with prongs in the center, a ruler, scissors, a box of crayons, a box of thin-lined markers, a box of broad-lined markers, an eraser, a package of pencil cap erasers, a bottle of glue, a glue stick, a blue pen, a black pen, a package of pencils, a box of tissue, and a package of 3-ring binder filler paper.
Thanks to our Project Leader, Donna Blin, for all her hard work ensuring we had enough supplies and back packs.
